How this works
touch typing for programmers
- Just type
- The first keystroke starts the clock. ctrl+enter restarts the same snippet; esc closes whatever is open.
- Tours and sets
- Each language is a run of tours; a tour holds sets of related steps and closes with an encore of full programs.
- Stars
- One star for finishing a step, three for hitting its speed target. One star unlocks the next step.
- The map
- The map icon shows every tour, which sets you have cleared, and where you are.
- Sharing
- The address bar follows what you are doing, so copying it links someone straight to this step or to a tour map.
- Timing yourself
- The clock icon sets a sprint; leave it unset to type the snippet through at your own pace.
- Ghosts
- Your best run waits on the start line — Tab summons it as a hollow second caret to race. Beat it and the ghost updates.
- The daily challenge
- One snippet per language each day, everyone on the same board. Today's resets at midnight UTC.
- The boards
- Every snippet ranks its typists, keystroke-verified. The global leaderboard collects the records and crowns champions.
- Battles
- After any run, challenge a friend with a link. They race your recorded caret; the higher battle score wins.
- Live races
- Real people, three snippets, one start gun — watch their carets come for you. The lobby fills races of 2, 4, or 8.

Race your best run
It comes back as a quiet dash on the baseline — close means the race is on. Beat it and the ghost updates.
Race real people
Live races: three snippets, one start gun — every rival's avatar rides their caret.
